This is a two-week program comprising approximately 12 hours of instruction and homework, wherein participants will acquire actionable strategies to augment their professional profiles, establish a robust online presence to attract attention from employers, and develop self-marketing techniques akin to those employed by seasoned professionals. The course provides insight into the specific competencies that are highly regarded in industry, allows participants to identify which of these they already possess, and offers guidance on the transferability of their existing skills across diverse domains. Participants will critically examine the relative merits and disadvantages of careers in industry, academia, and hybrid roles, learning from individuals who have navigated both pathways.

Under our mentorship, participants will strategically select new skills to enhance their CV's, get the parameters of interview dynamics, and receive expert guidance on effective networking practices. 

In the course, we will revisit the conceptualization of mathematics as the "Queen of the Sciences"—a perspective that may have become obscured during years of specialization in [fill-in your AMS-MSC]. We shall explore the manifold ways in which mathematicians can contribute to sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, game theory, economics, education, the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, engineering, robotics, and beyond, regardless of their original mathematical specialization.

Upon completing this program, participants will possess a suite of tools—such as optimized CV templates, strategies for enhancing GitHub profiles, and refined networking techniques—that will empower them to navigate career opportunities in both industry and academia. Companies aren't aware that mathematicians have amazingly precise thinking skills which are an invaluable asset to any company. Mathematicians often do not know how to market themselves to companies. A university degree does not include "business literacy" nor information about where mathematicians can shine - other than as a 🪑 of a department.
We help mathematicians transition from math to industrial fields, to other academic areas, and company positions. We work directly with talent acquisition consultants, hiring managers, and mathematicians who have braved this transition. We bring you their combined experience and wisdom in the form of this course.
This course is for mathematicians who want to explore career opportunities beyond academic pure mathematics. This includes those who want to do consulting on the side while working in at a university, those who want to work in a different academic area, and those who want to switch entirely to an industrial position as well as anyone in the convex closure of these three.
We open with a live session Monday Sept 16. If you can't make it, don't worry, we will record it. Then we will release one video lecture with exercises per day: Tue-Thu on the first week; Mon-Wed on the second week. The course closes with a live session Thursday Sept 26. You will have lifetime access to all the materials of this course.

Vadim Weinstein

Mathematician, cognitive scientist, roboticist, enterpreneur
Vadim got his PhD in mathematical logic in 2011 at the University of Helsinki and has since then pursued a multi-faceted scientific and business career.
